The Story of Creative Space Cumbernauld

Creative Space Cumbernauld is the areas first ever multidisciplinary community art space, made possible by an array of fantastic and dedicated supporters.

Hello!

We’re the founders of Creative Space Cumbernauld, and we’re so excited to introduce the town’s first multidisciplinary community visual art space!

I’m Katherine, a Scottish artist and the creative mind behind Braw Artworks. I’m especially passionate about cyanotype – a beautiful, hands-on process that blends art and science. Alongside my work as an art and design teacher in Falkirk, I run creative workshops across Scotland, helping others discover and enjoy this unique technique.

Grant works nationally, supporting Scotland’s Care Experienced community. He plays a key role in Braw Artworks, helping with everything from our online presence to in-person events.

Together, we’re committed to making Creative Space Cumbernauld a warm, welcoming place where creativity, connection, and community come together.

Our Why

While Cumbernauld does have some arts provision, until now it hasn’t had a dedicated space offering a wide variety of visual arts experiences all under one roof.

In nearby towns and cities, there are plenty of private companies, social enterprises, and charities running regular art classes and creative events. Our aim is to bring that same energy and opportunity to the people of Cumbernauld.

We believe art has the power to transform lives — but access to it shouldn’t be limited. Whether you’re an aspiring artist, a casual hobbyist, or just looking for a new way to relax and grow, visual arts can make a real difference.

We’re proud of our town and passionate about creating a welcoming, social space where creativity and community can thrive.

Our Vision

Creative Space Cumbernauld is a welcoming, inclusive hub right in the heart of the town’s shopping centre. It’s a place where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together to get creative, try something new, and connect with others. Whether you’re into arts, crafts, workshops, or just looking for a friendly space to explore your creativity – there’s something here for everyone.

We also offer space for creative organisations to hire for events or activities, and we’re always happy to support local community groups who want to use the space for meetings, workshops, or projects. It’s all about bringing people together and supporting creativity in our community.

Every donation helps – no matter how small, your support means we can offer free creative classes and workshops for care-experienced individuals, making sure creativity is accessible to everyone.
