Funded Places

At Creative Space Cumbernauld, we believe that art and creativity should be accessible to everyone. We are proud to offer a variety of funded programmes designed specifically to support unpaid carers and children with experience of care.

Our workshops provide a relaxed, welcoming environment to explore new skills, meet others with shared experiences, and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of creative expression.

Unpaid Carers

We understand that carving out time for yourself can be a challenge. Through our funded programmes, we offer three distinct ways for carers to engage with art, whether you need a solo break, a weekend workshop, or a creative activity to share with the person you care for.

Solo Breather Sessions

Our Breather sessions are protected spaces designed specifically for carers to explore various art styles and mediums. These monthly 1.5 hour classes are held on Fridays during school hours, making it easier for parent-carers to attend without the need for additional childcare. These sessions are as much about the art as they are about the community, providing a relaxed space for peer-to-peer conversations.

  • When: Monthly on Fridays (Daytime) COMING SOON

  • Focus: Exploration of different mediums and peer support.

Respite Spaces in our Workshop Programme

If you cannot make our Friday sessions, or if there is a specific craft you have always wanted to try, our "Respite Spaces" allow you to join our established workshop programme for free. We offer gifted spaces across our range of workshops, including:

  • Watercolour Painting & Printmaking

  • Seasonal Wreath Making

  • Acrylic Painting and more

For more information head to our Workshops page. There are no limits to how many workshops you want to attend.

Creative Partners for Adult & Child Sessions

We recognise that "carer guilt" and the difficulty of finding specialised respite can be a barrier to being creative. Our Adult & Child sessions are designed for carers and children to attend together.

By providing all materials and professional guidance, we shift the dynamic from caregiver and recipient to creative partners. These sessions offer a safe, understanding environment where families can bond over a shared achievement.

Care Experience

Creative Space Cumbernauld is committed to providing a stable, inspiring environment where people with experience of care can express themselves and develop their artistic talents.

Free Places in Ongoing Classes

We offer free spaces within our regular weekly art classes for both adults and children with experience of care. These classes allow participants to join a consistent creative community, learn technical skills, and build confidence.

Summer Art Classes

During the school summer holidays, we host dedicated art classes specifically for children with experience of care. The classes are designed to be fun, engaging, and a great way to spend the summer break exploring everything from sculpture to sketchbook work.
