Capture the magic of nature and light in this hands-on creative morning.

We are thrilled to welcome the talented Braw Artworks to Creative Space Cumbernauld for an immersive workshop exploring the beautiful, historic art of Cyanotype printing.

Cyanotype is a 19th-century photographic printing process that produces a distinctive cyan-blue print. Using UV light (sunlight) and a special light-sensitive solution, you will learn how to create stunning, one-of-a-kind botanical prints and abstract designs.

What to Expect

This workshop is perfect for beginners and seasoned creatives alike. Under the expert guidance of Braw Artworks, you will:

  • Learn the History: A brief introduction to the “blue print” process and how it works.

  • Coating & Composition: Learn how to prepare your paper and arrange your compositions using pressed flowers, leaves, lace, and negatives.

  • The Reveal: Watch the magic happen as we expose your work to light and develop it in water to reveal the deep Prussian blue tones.

  • Take Home Your Art: You will leave with a series of your own unique A4 and A5 prints, ready to frame.

  • All professional materials and equipment.

  • A selection of dried botanicals (though you are welcome to bring your own!).

  • Expert tuition from Braw Artworks.

  • Tea, coffee, and biscuits to keep the creativity flowing.

What Should I Bring?

Just yourself and your enthusiasm! If you have specific flat objects you’d like to try printing—such as interesting leaves, feathers, or pieces of lace—please feel free to bring them along.

Note: This process can be a little messy, so we recommend wearing old clothes (we can provide an apron.)
